Programme Vienna

A collaboration between Phileas – The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art and the Austrian Pavilion

Parallel to her exhibition in the Austrian Pavilion at the Biennale Arte 2024, Phileas – The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art will present a group of new and existing works by Anna Jermolaewa at its space in Vienna. The film-based installation Rehearsal for Swan Lake, which plays a central role in Venice, has been expanded to include a large body of preparatory material, while the 2009 video work Alexandra Wysokinska/20 Years Later—which looks back on the artist’s own experience as an émigré — is shown in a revised form. Sculptures, drawings, watercolours and photographic works will also be presented in the exhibition.

On the occasion of the exhibition Assemblé at Phileas, Christian Kosmas Mayer has curated two distinct programs that showcase a vibrant mix of concerts, performances, and videos by current and alumni students of the Experimental Art department at the University of Arts Linz. Under the professorship of Anna Jermolaewa since 2019, Experimental Art has continued to uphold its long-standing reputation as a vibrant laboratory for artistic innovation, blending different media to forge unconventional forms of art.
